As many as 12 'terrorists' have reportedly entered the provincial metropolis to avenge the death of Asif Chotu, chief of the 'banned outfit' Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, official sources in the police department toldBusiness Recorder here on Friday.
Of them, two have already been arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), they added.
The law enforcing agencies have also been tipped-off that all the suicide bombers are 'minors' including one female and they are likely to carry out their criminal acts wearing 'burqas'.
They said these terrorists belonged to Mohmand Agency and have moved to the city on the direction of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). According to them, they may strike soft places of the city, including the Governor House, Anti-Terrorism Courts, shrines, parks, schools, colleges, universities and other sensitive installations, they added.
On January 25, the Punjab Home Department had also issued a 'security alert' in a bid to alert the departments concerned to avert any such incident and the police department had increased the security by putting up 'pickets' and conducting search and combing operations. Sources in the police said that they had also arrested a number of people on account of suspicion, especially from Afghan localities.
"During the neutralising, one child suicide bomber destined for Lahore revealed that a school (double story) near Abdali Chowk was his target," a clause of the letter was quoted as saying. It is pertinent to mention here that the police department has put up several pickets but, unfortunately, no 'lady constable' has been seen at any of those pickets to check the suspects.
