Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani has said on Wednesday that the ruling elite of the country is unable to see certain harsh realities confronting day-to-day life. Speaking at the launching ceremony of his new book 'Invisible People,' he said, "These realities spread around us in the society have compelled me to write about the miseries of the depressed and suppressed invisible people of our society."
Rabbani said that since the creation of Pakistan, handful elite of the country has been befooling the masses, adding that he had no other option but to highlight the problems confronting the people through short stories. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, federal ministers, parliamentarians, journalists and people from different walks of life attended the ceremony.
Rabbani regretted for not sharing any news with the media as he would talk about the characters of his short stories through the medium of literature. He said the characters of his stories are not news worthy, rather their miseries presented always reflect the realities of life.
He shared few stories from his book including the story of a worker who is seriously ill, lying outside the hospital while his underage daughter is searching for a doctor. He is a worker who was very dear to factory owner till the time he was running the wheel of his mill, however, capitalist is not interested to know about his bad condition outside the gate of his business.
The event was unique in nature as no one presided over the ceremony. The event was addressed by different personalities. Famous drama writer Mustansar Hussain Tarar was represented by Irum Gillani who read out his message before the audience.
In his message Tarar said that he has gone through all the book and is of the view that the stories in "Invisible People" by Raza Rabbani fulfill the criteria of a true short story. Senator Taj Haider, Dr Safeer Awan, Ghazi Salauddin, Masood Ashar and Senator Afrasyab Khattak also addressed the book launching ceremony.
