The Supreme Court sought report from deputy inspector general of Larkana police within three days about alleged decision of a Jirga (a local council of notables) here on Friday, asking an accused of having illicit relations with a woman to pay substantial amount as fine; otherwise, his brother's minor daughters would be forced to enter into marriage contract with majors of the complainant family.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took suo motu notice on a news report published on February 09 that on an allegation of illicit relations, a Jirga was held at Jacobabad by the notables of locality. The Jirga ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 1.3 million and in default whereof 2 daughters (aged 4 and 8 years) of elder brother of the accused were ordered to be given in marriage to the family of the complainant. Taking the cognisance of alleged decision of Jirga, the Chief Justice has called report from DIG Larkana, Sindh.
