Additional Secretary Finance, Dr Shujat Ali Friday assumed the charge of secretary Statistics Division while Tariq Pasha, special assistant to finance minister, has been transferred to the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) as secretary, it was learnt.
Sources said that the decision to appoint Dr Shujat Ali as secretary Statistics Division and Tariq Pasha as secretary EAD was taken subsequent to a Promotion Board meeting presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday that approved promotion of about 19 bureaucrats to BS-22. The official announcement of the promotion board meeting is still to come.
Tariq Pasha, Additional Secretary Finance Division was officiating as secretary in-charge Statistics Division. The Promotion Board reportedly promoted him to BS-22 and he was subsequently transferred to EAD as secretary. When contacted, an official said that so far it remains unclear who would be given the charge of the posts fell vacant after the transfer of these officials to Statistics Division and EAD from Finance Division.
