Rafi Peer Theater Workshop (RPTW) is planning to reorganise World Performing Art Festival in Lahore in the month of November after the gap of almost nine years. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) RPTW, Usman Peerzada said this while addressing the press conference along with Sadan Peerzada and Tasneem Peerzada on Friday organized in connection with 15th two-day Mystic Music Festival starting from today.
The event comprising theatre, dance, music, puppetry and films from around the world was last held in 2008 but security concerns affected the annual feature which had to be shelved for a few years.
Usman said that he had met chief minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif two times and he assured him his full support regarding the revival of this mega cultural event.
This year the festival has been planned for November and a number of performing arts' groups from Asia and Europe are likely to participate.
While talking about the RPTW Sufi Festival Usman said that purpose of organising this festival is to promote the message of our Sufi poets among the community.
The festival organized by RPTW will provide a vital chance to understand the sensitivity of their poetry, the wisdom expressed in their words, phrases and their foresightedness giving hope to the humanity. Whether it is the poetry of Baba Bule Shah, Shah Abdul Latif or the Kalam of Mian Muhammad Baksh and Waris Shah message is the same, to promote peace.
He also said that festival will bring over 26 Sufi singers from every part of Pakistan to perform their various styles of expressions, attracting people from every part of the country and every walk of life.
