The Karachi Port handled 157,650 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,063 tonnes of import cargo and 26,587 tonnes of export cargo including 6,428 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 131,063 tonnes comprised of 38,550 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,222 tonnes of general cargo; 58,041 tonnes of bulk cargo: 43,000 tonnes of coal; 5,211 tonnes of soyabean meal; 9,830 tonnes of rock phosphate and 33,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,587 tonnes comprised of 20,748 tonnes of containerised cargo; and 5,839 tonnes of rice.
As many as 6,428 containers comprising of 2,540 containers import and 3,888 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,026 of 20's and 699 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 58 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 556 of 20's and 301 of 40's loaded containers while 302 of 20's and 1,214 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely CMA CGM Puget, Najdiah and BF Ayita carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. RIO Cadiz, Crystal Sambu and BF Ayita carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Adrian Schulte, Northern Dependant and Gloves Comet carrying containers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely MT Karachi, Corona and Crystal Sambu carrying oil tankers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Valencia, Oriental Nadeshiko, Bon Atlantico, Clovis Comet and Heilan Brother carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, vehicle and steel respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while ten vessels viz. Kota Kamil, Wan Hai-501, Chastine Maersk, UAFL Zanzibar, Hyundai General, Fowairet, High Beam, Grand Race, U Noble and Ping An Song carrying containers, mogas, vehicle, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 97,513 tonnes comprising 58,810 tonnes of import cargo and 38,703 tonnes of export cargo including 4,078 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 58,810 tonnes includes 12,374 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,500 tonnes of palm oil; 157 tonnes of LPG and 38,779 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,703 tonnes includes 38,703 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,078 containers comprising of 2,041 containers import and 2,037 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV Mataquito and MT Arietis carrying containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC Tokomo carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Chastine Maersk, CV MSC Tokomo, CV Mataquito, MV Marco, MT Maria-III, MT Arietis and MT Bunga Alamanda currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, LPG,
furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Jumbo Jublee, MV FPMC Fortune, MT Nordic Gas, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Pacific Energy, MT Harmony-1 and MT Navig-8 Aqua Marine carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Jumbo Jublee, MT Umm Bab and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, project cargo, LNG and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Energy Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were eleven ships namely CV Chastine Maersk, CV MSC Valencia, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Express Black Sea, MV Chance, MV Gaschem Antartic, MT Umm Bab, MT Bneider, MT Shalamar, MT Navig-8 Aqua Marine and MT Chemroad Mega carrying containers, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while two more ships namely CV San Felix and CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
