Sindh chief secretary has asked the NADRA authorities to facilitate the people of the province in obtaining CNIC, by enhancing the office timings beyond 05:00 pm in all over the province. A letter to this effect, has been sent to the Director General NADRA, at Karachi and Sukkur, on behalf of the chief secretary Rizwan Memon, wherein it has been emphasised that NADRA office timings may be extended beyond 05:00 pm to enable the people of Sindh o obtain their CNICs to ensure their registration in the Census 2017.
He pointed out that enumerators would check the CNICs of heads of families because it was mandatory requirement during enumeration but a large number of people in Sindh had not been registered with NADRA.
The Divisional Commissioners/ Divisional Census Co-ordinators and Deputy Commissioner/ District Census Co-ordinators have been advised to mobilise the citizens to approach the NADRA offices forthwith. They were also directed to ensure foolproof security at NADRA offices and forward the daily reports to Secretary (I&C) Dr Niaz Abbasi, for smooth co-ordinated efforts in respect of the census 2017.
