Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan warned on Tuesday that any operation in Punjab to track down the militant hideouts through Punjab police without Rangers will be an exercise in futility. "The force [Punjab Police] which failed to counter Chotu gang couldn't deal with terrorists, so this job [to eliminate terrorists] can't be done without Rangers," he said during a presser at his Bani Gala residence.
Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he said that after completely destroying the police in Punjab, he is now bent upon destroying other state institutions, which is reflected through performance of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), etc.
"If he [NAB chairman] had the slightest credibility, he would have quit right away, but he's no idea of the word 'shame', and he's busy serving his masters to return the favour for the coveted slot of NAB chief he's been bestowed upon," he lamented. He said that the government is badly stuck in Panama Leaks case, and in order to hide their money laundering and corruption, they have to tell lie after lie, as all including the speaker National Assembly are the courtiers of Sharifs.
"If NA speaker had been slightly independent, he wouldn't have sent my reference to Election Commission," he added. The chairman PTI also came down hard on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, and questioned how one can expect turning around the economy of the country from a man who did money laundering for Nawaz Sharif.
"His [Dar] sole purpose is to serve the boss [PM] through money laundering," he alleged while referring to money laundering allegations by Dar for Nawaz Sharif. Referring to the arguments of Attorney General for Pakistan in Panamagate case before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, he said now they have started challenging the jurisdiction of the apex court.
"In case the verdict in Panama Leaks case is delivered against Sharifs, it [PML-N] would storm the apex court again like it did in 1997," he added, "If the prime minister is found involved in fraud, cheating and money laundering, who would make him accountable if courts have no jurisdiction to summon him."
He claimed that a large number of PML-N leaders are desperate to leave the sinking boat of Sharifs as they knew the fate of the party after Panama leaks case, adding they are making underhand contacts to join PTI sooner or later. He also deplored that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) did not assist the court. It has now been proved that both FBR and NAB are making new excuses to protect the Prime Minister's corruption, he added.
Imran Khan, whose party is in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lauded Charsadda police for foiling a terror bid through prompt action or else there could have been more damages. "The police force can only perform when it is made independent and political interference is stopped," he added. He expressed grief over loss of human lives in Charsadda court attack, and said that the menace of terrorism would have been eliminated if the National Action Plane had been executed in true letter and spirit.
