It is a delightful occasion for SHAMROCK Conferences International, as we present the 9th Pakistan Energy Forum 2017. This year's conference has been truly enriched by the presence of Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the honourable Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Government of Pakistan.
Over the past decade, this forum has rapidly evolved to become a resourceful platform, attracting distinguished national leaders, energy experts, investors, regulators, professionals and other stakeholders, who are committed to ensure an energy-abundant future for the nation. It provides a big opportunity to come together, analyse and realign our collective strategy for "Approaching new frontiers in Energy-sufficiency" in Pakistan.
It is heartening to observe that Pakistan's energy sector has successfully initiated numerous projects and trans-national ventures, to build a sustainable energy infrastructure that promises to overcome the prolonged energy-crisis and meet the emerging challenges faced by the nation.
The Pakistan Energy Forum has been inspired and patronised by the leading figures and institutions in this essential industry, as the nation has long been facing major challenges in tapping the available resources, to ensure consistent supply of energy, needed for the smooth functioning of our industrial, commercial and domestic sectors. Fortunately, the Government is now fully aware of this critical need and is showing great diligence to establish large-scale energy ventures, that will power every deprived region and segment in the country.
Moreover, the revolutionary, trans-national venture - China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has opened countless new doors of opportunity for faster development and prosperity. Recently, we have seen several concrete measures being taken to create a more balanced energy-mix, to reduce Pakistan's reliance on the costly, imported thermal fuels like Oil, while we adopt more economical and indigenous resources like; natural-gas, hydel, Coal, nuclear. More sustainable alternate energy sources, like; Solar, Wind and Bio-mass technologies have also become increasingly viable in recent years that promise an infinite and eco-friendly supply of energy, on a global scale.
