Strong title contender Pakistan Army led the way in the ongoing Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa National Under-23 Volleyball Championship being played here at PSB Coaching Center on Wednesday. Acting Secretary General Pakistan Volleyball Federation M. B. Javed was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the match on Wednesday, the players were introduced to him.
Organising Secretary Khalid Waqar, Pakistan team coach Muhammad Akram, former Pakistan team skipper Abdur Rahim, Shahid Hussain, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present. In the opening match Pakistan Army defeated Punjab by 25-18, 25-14 and 25-15 in a one-sided affair. Army spikers did not give much time to Punjab players to strike back and dominated most of the time by showing some forceful spikings and attacking approach.
In the second match Pakistan Board outclassed FATA in a straight sets, the score was 25-17, 25-19 and 25-17. Pakistan Board also dominated against FATA team. FATA players did some resistance, especially in the second and third sets where it event got lead against Pakistan Board team but failed to maintain their supremacy and thus lost the match.
In another match Azad Jammu and Kashmir upset POA Wah, a departmental team, having lot of resources. POA Wah got the first set by 20-25 but failed to click in the remaining three consecutive sets and thus Azad Jammu and Kashmir marched into victory. The score was 25-22, 25-21 and 25-23.
Pakistan Army secured victory against Sindh in another one-sided match, the score was 25-13, 25-16 and 25-15. Army so far remained unbeaten did not give much time to Sindh to settle down and thus marched into a very convincing victory.
In the other matches Punjab defeated Azad Jammu and Kashmir by 3-0, the score was 25-19, 25-18 and 25-21 while in the last match Pakistan Wapda, who tasted defeat against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, recorded victory against Balochistan in the straight sets, the score was 25-18, 25-11 and 25-12.
