The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic congratulates the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan upon holding the next 13th ECO Summit in Islamabad, wishes success and expresses hope that during the presidency of Pakistan, the Organisation activities will rise to a new quality level and the substantive work will begin through the interaction of participating countries and the implementation of mutually beneficial regional projects.
The Kyrgyz Republic has always been committed to the principles of the regional economic co-operation within the ECO, and it was the main reason for the country's accession to the Organisation back in 1992.
Our Government attaches great importance to the activities of the ECO that are aimed at strengthening the co-operation among the member states on trade, tourism, transport, energy, agriculture and other fields.
The ECO region has all the necessary potential, including human resources, economic opportunities, vast natural resources, an extensive communications network, to implement the fundamental goals and objectives of the Organisation.
I am confident that the existing considerable potential of trade, economic and investment ties of ECO member countries will contribute to the development and improvement of not only the Organisation as a whole, but will also help to preserve traditions and strengthen the friendship between our peoples.
