The Punjab government has been implementing a comprehensive mechanism of providing institutional support to the educational institutions for their security in the province. It is heartening that law and order situation has been improved due to the continued anti terrorism efforts of the government. In this regard, the school education department has constituted special teams to review the security measures adopted by the public and private sector schools in the province.
This was stated by provincial minister for schools education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan while presiding over a meeting held in the committee room of school education department to review the security arrangements of schools here on Thursday. Lord Mayor Lahore Mubashir Javed, secretary schools education Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, director monitoring Rana Abdul Qayyum,
CEO (education) Lahore Tariq Raffique, SP (City) Muhammad Naveed and representatives of public and private sector schools attended the meeting. Secretary (schools) Abdul Jabbar Shaheen said that all the heads of public and private sector schools have been issued directions to make the security of their institutions foolproof so as to coop with any untoward situation.
Provincial minister Rana Mashhood directed the schools' management to pay special attention on the monitoring of their schools through CCTV cameras. He further directed the schools' representatives to ensure security of all the students and teachers through best possible security arrangements and complete implementing of SOPs issued by the Punjab government. The checking of CNICs of the labourers doing some construction work in the schools as well as strict vigilance of the surrounding areas must also be ensured, he added. Rana Mashhood assured that schools' security was the foremost priority of the Punjab government, and added that no compromise would be made on this issue.
Lord Mayor Mubashir Javed also addressed the meeting and said that Pakistanis are a brave nation and we will face the challenge of terrorism with unity and confidence. He stressed upon the need to ensure smooth flow of traffic during schools opening and closure times as well as their cleanliness.
