Despite tall claims of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police regarding strict security arrangements, the crime rate registered an upward trend during the last week in the federal capital. According to the crime statistics collected byBusiness Recorder here on Saturday, various police stations of the city registered over 10 cases of armed robberies, nine cases of auto theft, three cases of kidnapping and one case of murder last week.
Armed robberies witnessed a remarkable rise in the city as various police stations registered nine cases of robberies wherein armed persons stormed into shops and houses and looted valuables worth million of rupees. The criminal gangs had a field day within the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Bhara Kahu, Margalla and Kohsar police stations. During the period under review, Sabzi Mandi police station registered one case each of murder, kidnapping and auto theft. Police recovered the dead body of a person killed by unknown people.
One Pervez Akhtar registered a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police station that accused Arif along with other unknown persons abducted his daughter. Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number IDK-7967 of Naseer Ahmad Qureshi. Bhara Kahu police station registered two cases of auto theft and one case of robbery. Thieves stole a bike (AJN-691) of Akhtar Nawaz from the limits of Bhara Kahu police station.
A victim Arif Mehmood Sheikh registered a complaint with Bhara Khau police station that unknown robbers stole gold ornaments and a laptop from his house. One Muhammad Bashir registered a complaint with the same police station that he was going somewhere when three unknown armed persons intercepted him and stanched his bike (RIL-65).
During the aforementioned period, Kohsar police station registered one case each of auto theft and robbery. Auto thieves stole a car (LEE-7340) of Sultan Mehmood from Blue Area car parking.
In another incident, Shehnaz Miraj registered a complaint with Kohsar police station that foreign currency and two mobile phones have been stolen from his house, stating that he suspects that his maid might be involved in the incident. Margalla police station registered two cases of robberies during the week under review. One Muhammad Asad Ali informed Margalla police station that unknown armed robbers riding a bike snatched his mobile phone, cash and documents at gunpoint in Sector F-8 Markaz, Islamabad.
One Junaid Akbar registered a compliant with Margalla police station that unknown persons stole his laptop from his car from F-9 Park. Sihala police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft during the last week. A victim Sameer Asad lodged a complaint with Sihala police station that unknown robbers stole gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from his house. Auto thieves lifted a car bearing registration number LHZ-7468 of Muhammad Zubair from the limits of the same police station.
During previous week, Khanna, Aabpara and Shamas Colony police stations registered one case each of auto theft. Industrial Area and Secretariat police stations registered one case each of kidnapping. Shalimar and Industrial Area police stations registered one case each of robbery and kidnapping.
