President Mammon Hussain on Wednesday said that writers and poets should build a counter narrative to eliminate extremism and terrorism from the country. The President said this while in a meeting with members of Organising Committee of Alami Mushaira-2017 who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad.
The President stated that intolerance in society and the menace of corruption can be overcome by promoting the teachings of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal among people to ensure progress and prosperity of the country, adding that poets and writers can play an important role in this regard.
The President said that poets promote love for country among the new generation through their work. The President stated that by following the footsteps of Allam Iqbal writers and poets should also highlight national objectives and the problems being faced by society.
He added that holding of literary ceremonies are part of our cultural values as they are an important source of training the nations. The President further stated that holding of final match of Pakistan Super League in Pakistan is a welcome development, adding that it will promote positive image of the country in the world. The President expressed optimism that international cricket in the country will be revived soon. On the occasion, the members of Organising Committee of Alami Mushaira-2017 also apprised the President about their issues. The President directed the department concerned to resolve their issues.
