On the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai, performance audit of the autonomous Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs) has been started in the province. The aim of the performance audit is to evaluate the overall performance of these institutions since the time they have been declared autonomous through an act of the Provincial Assembly (Medical Teaching Institutions Reforms institutions Act 2015).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health care commission-a regulatory body of the Provincial Government has been tasked to carry out the performance audit of the MTIs, whereas Shifa Foundation has also been involved in the process as a neutral third party in order to the ensure impartiality and transparency in the process.
