The officials of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) said that five unregistered food items were seized in a raid conducted the mobile testing team in Gulshan-e-Iqbal's Bachat Bazaar on Sunday. "Our team seized five food items including Clover Plus Sunflower, Honey Infant Milk, Golden Sun (loose) Cooking Oil, Awam Banaspati and Awam Cooking Oil which were unregistered and sold illegally," said Rehmatullah Memon, media advisor at the Standard Authority.
Some other products such as Assal Cooking oil, ABSA Banaspati, ABSA Cooking Oil, Shan Iodized Salt, and Al-Heba Cooking Oil were also found substandard during the mobile team's survey. However, Pacific Cooking Oil, Bake Parlor, Synthetic Vinegar (White), Pure Banaspati, Naz Cooking oil, Blue Band and Table Margarine were found fine for utilization as per standard of PSQCA, he said.
Talking to reporters, he said PSQCA would continue to work for consumers' satisfaction and prevent substandard and un-registered products in the markets. He also advised the manufacturers to obtain license and registration with PSQCA. As per directive of the Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain and Director General Muhammad Khalid Siddiq, the mobile testing laboratory will be remain active in all locations of Karachi and other parts of country to control the manufacture of substandard products. PSQCA teams assured people that they are committed and continue such raids and also educate people about quality standards.
