Punjab Minister for Environment Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has stressed the need for taking solid steps to save the ozone layers and called upon industrialists in Punjab to install pollution-free devices and their continuous use.
She was speaking at a seminar-cum-exhibition arranged by the Punjab Environment Department in collaboration with the UNEP on Thursday. The seminar was aimed at creating awareness about gasses emitting from refrigerators and air-conditioners negatively impacting the environment.
The Minister urged the industrialists to take all out steps for saving the environment from all kinds of pollution which was also a pre-requisite for trade at the international markets. She welcomed the increasing trend of latest technology in the industry and said the department had also installed air-pointers to check the intensity of pollution in the air.
She also called for taking part in the plantation campaign by all and carrying out research at individual and collective level.
