Sherry Rehman, Marvi Memon take Shireen Mazari’s side over Momina in Twitter spat
The Coke Studio's rendition of 'Ko Ko Korina' by Momina Mustehsan and Ahad Raza Mir has become the talk of the town with even politicians such as Shireen Mazari and Sherry Rehman disapproving the remake, much to Momina's dislike.
The duo recreated the 60s hit song from Waheed Murad’s film, which has not received positive response from the viewers. The song has even started a Twitter feud between Momina and Minster for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader Tweeted about the 'horrendous' recreation but that did not sit well with Momina, who replied saying that being a political figure and representing Pakistan, Shireen should be more careful with her opinions. “As someone holding office, I’d expect you to be more responsible with how you express yourself on public platforms,” she wrote.
Momina also told Shireen that she has already been dealing with cyber bullying and hate speech, so don’t fuel it further.
When you hold office, its not about politics or his/her own anymore - it’s about the country at large. You represent all of us now, not just yourself or #PTI. In a time when we’re trying to curb cyber-bullying and hate speech, please don’t fuel it further #SocialResponsibility https://t.co/5cX0Z8OaMl

As someone holding office, I’d expect you to be more responsible with how you express yourself on public platforms. We look up to you, ma’am, as citizens of this country. Uncle Ben from Spider-Man said “with great power comes great responsibility”. Don’t let us down #NayaPakistan https://t.co/Ghvw5tivkd

However, Mazari clapped back saying that her ministry or politics had nothing to do with her opinion. Brushing all the politics aside, even Pakistan People Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz leader (PML-N) Marvi Memon took Shireen's side. All three seem to be on the same page when it comes to music.
I gave my personal opinion which I am entitled to esp on a non pol issue having to do with music. To each his/her own! And why bring the ministry into it?! https://t.co/io9q0y6nAf

Putting all differences aside, PML-N leader Marvi took sides with her political rival Shireen in this online battle.
Wth all r differences @ShireenMazari1 has a right to dislike a song. Doesn’t affect her portfolio.

PPP's Sherry tweeted, "No harm in stating music likes and dislikes. And no need to make such choices the subject of convoluted debate".
Same here. In fact I like the Leo Twins version of Koko Korina much better than the flat version put out by Coke Studio. No harm in stating music likes and dislikes. And no need to make such choices the subject of convoluted debate. https://t.co/sff8ZdBbWR

While fans are furious for destroying the 60s famous number, actress Sajal Aly has been defending Ahad and Momina’s effort to sing ‘Ko Ko Korina’. “Three days and counting and it’s all about Ko Ko Korina! Love it or hate it, your call but you don’t have to go town insulting someone’s effort. It’s only a song – sing along or change the channel. We as a country have far more important issues to debate. #stopthehate,” she wrote on Instagram.
