In order to spread awareness through its investor education program 'JamaPunji', the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) conducted an awareness session for senior professionals of HEC-recognised universities of Islamabad and adjoining areas at its head office.
The seminar invited individuals spearheading at their respective universities, the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC). Senior SECP subject matter experts conducted the seminar, elaborating on the legal frameworks for incorporating businesses, private equity for financing start-ups, microfinance, and capital markets for raising finance for SMEs.
Expert speakers provided information on the SECP's online incorporation services, fast track registration services and in particular SECP's supportive role for development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Pakistan. The interactive discussion about private equity for financing start-ups and SECP's role in encouraging SME listing lead to healthy debate and feedback.
Heads of ORICs, senior academics and other senior representatives from Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan Institute of Developmental Economics (PIDE), Air University, Bahria University, Riphah International University, NUST Business School, Institute of Space Technology, Fatima Jinnah Women University, University of Haripur, University of AJK and PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi attended the session.
The participants appreciated the SECP's ongoing efforts, acknowledging the awareness impact of such sessions. They invited SECP to conduct tailor-made sessions at their respective ORICs and university campuses to help educate and encourage budding student entrepreneurs. -PR
