Clarification

This is apropos a concerned by Business Recorder in its publication of 15th March, 2017 on the alleged confusion regarding the continuity in job of Mr. S.M Muneer as Chief Executive, TDAP refers. "With only 3 exceptions, the TDAP has always been headed by business leaders of Pakistan since its inception, in order to represent business community concerns and suggestions in policy making and its implementation mechanism. This is not a conflict of interest situation but with the interest to proceed in policy formulation and implementation, in a Public-Private partnership mode with a view to maximise the benefits of experiences of both sectors.
"Vide the Establishment Division's Notification dated 12th March, 2014, Mr. S.M Muneer was appointed Chief Executive Officer, TDAP on contract basis on purely honorific capacity with immediate effect and until further orders. Section 5(2) of the TDAP Act, 2014 provides that "the tenure of the Chief Executive shall be three years extendable by the Federal Government. The Chief Executive shall, however, serve at the pleasure of the Federal Government". The news report has subjectively and intentionally reported partial facts only which is deduced as an attempt to not only malign the TDAP, but also intentionally mislead the public opinion.
"Another absurd assumption that has been maliciously attempted is to show a conflict of interest of Mr. S.M Muneer being the Chief Executive, TDAP and being a member on the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Canada Business Council. There is a great deal of complementarity in the roles of both the TDAP as well as the Pakistan Canada Business Council, in terms of trade development and product as well as market diversification.
"The author of the reported article probably is unaware of these facts which have led him to believe in a "clash of interest", in a role which in fact compliments Trade Development activities. This leads to ownership of the concerned stakeholders in the policies and measures being forwarded and/ or developed."
