Amidst inherited impoverishment and widespread thirst and hunger all over the place, the Al-Khidmat Foundation Sindh comes to the fore to help out those who otherwise wouldn't be able to have sufficient amount of drinkable water available at their doorsteps.
Leading from the front in terms of supplying clean water to water-deficient areas and parched localities of the Sindh province, the Al-Khidmat Foundation Sindh, since 1990, has been bringing in a lifelong relief to the fate-stricken people of Tharparkar who now rejoice the watery blessings channeled through pipelines, conduits and water filtration plants, said a press release on Thursday.
The Foundation has been installing water filtration plants, community hand pumps, solar/electronic submersible water pumps throughout Sindh, particularly in drought-hit Tharparkar, along with its adjacent localities. Last year in 2016, the Al-Khidmat Foundation installed some 16 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in such various districts of Sindh as Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Dharki, Kandhkot, Mithi, etc.
In addition to that, a total of 351 wells and 427 community hand pumps, as well as some 24 solar/electrical submersible water pumps were installed in the Tharparkar district, supplying water on a daily basis to more than 30 thousand families residing in the water-deficient areas.
Recently on the occasion of World Water Day, the Foundation carried out awareness drives and organised seminars in various cities and districts, including Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Tharparkar, Tando Jam, Kandhkot, Mirpur Khas and Shahdadpur.
