The Karachi Port handled 242,484 tonnes of cargo comprising 181,080 tonnes of import cargo and 61,404 tonnes of export cargo including 5,525 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 181,080 tonnes comprised of 89,748 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,692 tonnes of general cargo; 46,840 tonnes of bulk cargo: 21,000 tonnes of coal; 7,780 tonnes of soyabean meal; 11,300 tonnes of rock phosphate; 6,760 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 35,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 61,404 tonnes comprised of 58,354 tonnes of containerised cargo and 150 tonnes of general cargo and 2,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,525 containers comprising of 2,857 containers import and 2,668 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,406 of 20's and 601 of 40's loaded while 249 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 650 of 20's and 144 of 40's loaded containers while 168 of 20's and 781 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely Taroko, Hammonia Virginia, Kota Kamil, Ever Diamond, Sima Genesis, Seaspan Lahore, FS Sincerity, Everrich-7, Everrich-1, Filia Glory and GL Lan Xiu carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. Wan Hai-511, SM Mumbai, Sima Genesis, Kota Kamil, Ever Diamond, Pacific Horizon-II, Everrich-1, TRF Mongstad, Iris Halo, Kiran China and Jin Hong carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely SM Mumbai and Good Luck-1 carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on Saturday.
There were four vessels viz. MT Quetta, AS Omaria, Ardmore Defender and Aqua Prosper carrying oil tankers, mogas and coal respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. MSC Positano, Hyundai Oakland, Prosper, G Poseidon, Han Li and Chang Hang PU carrying containers, vehicle and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 191,966 tonnes comprising 104,509 tonnes of import cargo and 87,457 tonnes of export cargo including 7,086 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 104,509 tonnes includes 31,869 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,000 tonnes of palm oil; 800 tonnes of coal; 20,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,663 tonnes of LPG; 976 tonnes of project cargo and 47,177 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 87,457 tonnes includes 87,457 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 7,086 containers comprising of 2,483 containers import and 4,603 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely CV MSC Veronique, MT Elandra Palm and MT Argent Cosmos carrying containers, diesel oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely CV Maersk Savannah, CV Priority and MV Ji Xian Song carrying containers and project cargo respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Maersk Savannah, CV Priority, CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV MSC Veronique, MV Ji Xian Song, MV Da Liang, MT Gaschem Adriatic, MV Fuming, MT Duhail, MT Elandra Palm and MT Argent Cosmos currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely MT Berlin, MT Bneider, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Shalamar, MT Lahore, MT Brizo and MT CH Zephyr carrying soyabean seeds, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Tino, CV Hansa America, MT Berlin and MT Shalamar carrying containers, soyabean seeds and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were four ships namely CV Tino and CV Hansa America, MV Pelagica and MT Umm Bab carrying containers, project cargo and LNG respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV MSC Claudia and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV New Ark carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday. There is one ship namely CV MSC Messina carrying containers due to arrive on Monday.
