Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has said that 2017 is the year for putting an end to 'Darkness' by generating more electricity than required under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He said that after the completion of a number of energy projects at the end of 2017, we will put load shedding to an end for good and the credit for this goes to Pakistan Muslim League-N government led by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He regretted that some people allege that these projects were designed to elicit commissions and make money and were not actually meant for the good of nation and the country. Those who make these accusations will get nothing but will only regret and face humiliation if they reassess their behaviour, he added. He said they should not make baseless accusations rather demand accountability so that those responsible for loot and plunder of national resources should be held accountable and punished accordingly.
He expressed these views while addressing the ceremony after inauguration of Anti-Violence Centre for Women in Multan on Saturday. The Chief Minister announced setting up more centres in different districts of the province and said that no religion allows violence against women and the religion of Islam has also proscribed it in strongest terms possible. He said that we all respect superior judiciary; the society that does not respect judiciary and judicial system can not progress and gain respect in the world community. Referring to the Panama Case he said that PML-N will accept the verdict of the Supreme Court, whatever it may be.
He said that all those who have got opportunity to serve public should do so with best of their abilities or else they should be held accountable. He inquired in which province Rs 50 billion have had been spent on the uplift projects but no uplift project could be noticed on the ground and added that they should be held accountable. Those who mocked metro bus as 'Jangla bus' are now planning to launch this project in Peshawar. They termed the latest metro bus system in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Islamabad as Jangla bus, but for God's sake, the metro bus system, you are planning to introduce in Peshawar, should not be called as such. He congratulated them that they are introducing the latest metro bus service system of Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Islamabad in Peshawar now.
Shehbaz Sharif said that no one can become a leader by rejecting the things he does not like. He said that Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) directed all Muslims to educate themselves even if they had to go to China to do so; this message of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was not for men alone but equally applies to both men and women. It is the duty of the government to provide complete security to women who are victims of violence and injustice and added that similarly, co-operation should be extended in medico-legal aid and treatment while the police, administration and the judiciary should also proactively work for the protection of women and provision of justice.
He said that the Anti-violence centre setup in Multan has all the facilities to assist the women under one roof who are the victims of violence. He said that in this anti-violence centre, FIR will also be registered and action would be taken against all those who lodge illegal FIRs and added that doctors have been appointed for the women besides provision of experts and psychologists for expert advice.
Similarly, facility of surgery is also provided in the centre; all the matters pertaining to violence, acid throwing or injustice would be dealt under one roof and action would be taken, he said and added that the judge and court room facility is also provided in this center.
