Despite claims of putting preventive measures in place by the capital police, the crime rate recorded an increase during the last week as various police stations of the city registered 10 cases of robberies and burglaries, in which citizens had lost valuables worth millions of rupees.
According to crime statistics obtained by Business Recorder on Saturday, only during the last single week, various police stations of the city registered 10 cases of robberies and burglaries, seven cases of motor vehicle theft, two cases of kidnapping and one case of murder. During the last week, the most favourite areas for criminal gangs in the capital were within the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Sihala, Shalimar and Lohi Bher police stations.
In the period under review, Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases of robbery, two cases of auto theft and one murder case. Mudassir Ahsan lodged a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police station that unknown robbers stole a laptop and other valuables from his house.
Another Fahimullah informed the same police station that the accused Qamar Zaman and Muhammad Riaz hired his Suzuki pick-up at Sabzi Mandi. Later they snatched the pick-up from him after giving him some intoxicant material, he told police. Auto thieves snatched a bike bearing registration number RIR-3706 from Anwar Aqdar and stole a car (JG-478) of Junaid Malik from the limits of Sabzi Mandi police station. Sabzi Mandi police also recovered a body of an unknown person shot dead by unidentified people.
Sihala police station registered one case each of robbery and kidnapping during that period. Shehzad Nadeem registered a complaint with Sihala police station that unidentified robbers stole a TV, a CD player and a computer from his office.
One Munir Ahmad of Dhoke Awan lodged a complaint with Sihala police station that one Khalid Khan has allegedly kidnapped his wife. During the last week, Shalimar police station registered one case each of robbery and kidnapping. Muhammad Kamran of sector F-10 informed Shalimar police station that unknown robbers stole jewellery from his shop. He suspected that Imran and Irfan might be involved in the incident.
Rabi Bibi registered a complaint with Shalimar police station that accused Sulman, Khalil, Afsar Ali and others have kidnapped his daughter. During the last week, Tarnol and Margalla police stations registered one case each of robbery while Koral, Karachi Company, Industrial Area and Shehzad Town police stations registered one case each of auto theft.
