Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said CPEC has enhanced the strategic importance of KP opening it to both domestic and foreign investment. The provincial government has already planned the natural advantages of the province to be the economic base of the province. It opened all the potential advantages of the province to the investors and gave a policy for investment facilitation including introduction of one window operation and other unmatched incentives to investors, he added.
He was sharing details with media about 3 MoUs signed with the Malaysian investment team led by the ex-premier of Malaysia Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at Chief Minister House Peshawar on Tuesday. Advisor to Chief Minister for Industries Abdul Karim Khan, Advisor on Planning and Development Mian Khaliqur Rehman, Provincial Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Energy, Planning and Development and other concerned departments, heads of EZDMC, OGDCL, BOK, other industrial and commercial concern as well as local industrialists also participated in the ceremony.
The ex-premier of Malaysia and his team signed three MoUs for investment in Islamic Banking, Oil & Gas, Hydel Power Generation, Trade & Commerce, Industrialisation and Agriculture. The Malaysian investors would set-up a Halal meat processing plant at Ghazi, Introduce certified Halal Polio vaccine and Islamic micro Finance Bank etc.
The Chief Minister said that the steps of the present provincial government for industrialisation and investment in the province made it the most attractive destination for both national and international investment. The government has already announced its industrialisation policy giving the right kind of attractions for investment facilitation in different sectors of the province.
He reminded that it was some three months back; his government decided a separate security force to give security cover to all industrial zones and investment in the backdrop of CPEC. The officers and officials to be part of the new force had already been identified and he had already directed for their induction into the new force.
The Pervez Khattak said that his government invited the Islamic World to come here and invest in the natural advantages, the province of KP offered and get more dividends. He assured for the security and safety of their investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that his government has given a one window operation for investment facilitation in the province.
The Chief Minister welcoming the Malaysian investment recognised the expertise of the Ex-premier Abdullah Ahmad Badwi who took his nation to the new height of development and earned a respectable place in the Islamic world for his nation and hoped that his province needed to replicate what Abdullah Ahmad Badwi did for his nation.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because of its nearness to Afghanistan, Central Asian Republics and China had gained much importance not only for trade and economic activities but it would bring different civilizations and cultures closer to each other as well.
He told the media that in the recent past investors of China, Iran, Canada, Denmark, England and some other Islamic and European countries demonstrated their willingness to invest in the natural advantages of KP province.
