The University of Sindh has formed the Sindh University Alumni Association (SUAA) United Kingdom Chapter with the aim to unite all ex-students of the varsity and plan future activities including annual gatherings of notable alumni and creating employment, scholarship as well as training opportunities for the on-roll students.
In this regard, a ceremony was held under the chair of SU Vice Chancellor Professor Fateh Muhammad Burfat. Over 50 SU graduates/ex-students participated in the event wherein SUAA UK Chapter was formed and inaugurated on the occasion. Dr Ali Gul Metlo, most senior alumni of SU living in UK, was elected as the first president of the association.
Addressing the participants, Dr Burfat termed the inaugural function as milestone for change the destiny of students and varsity equally and said that he was happy to find every participant involved in sharing the cutting-edge knowledge and ideas regarding the betterment of Sindh University. "Senior students should try to create employment, scholarship and training opportunities for juniors", he said.
He said that the association's UK Chapter must be sending experts to SU for providing guidance to the students from time to time so that they might be able to get their career path in motivational way. "SU students are talented but the thing they need is opportunity, appropriate career counselling and training", said Dr Burfat.
On the occasion, the newly elected president of SUAA UK Chapter Dr Ali Gul Metlo thanked the vice chancellor for reposing trust in him and said he would try his best to ensure annual gatherings of alumni living in UK at Sindh University and help students of the Alma Mater get study as well as job opportunities in different universities in United Kingdom. In the last, the vice chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat gave a detailed briefing to the participants who came all the way from different areas of UK to attend the ceremony.
