Chairman, Qaumi Watan Party, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has called upon the federal government to ensure legal share of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in National Finance Commission (NFC) award. He also asked it for taking steps serving the Pukhtoons population to strengthen the federation.
While addressing a public gathering during a joining ceremony at Yakatoot in Peshawar city wherein Ex-Nazim Muhammad Shah quitted ANP and joined QWP along with other supporters. He stated that the federal government should realize the importance of maintaining a strong federation by ensuring provision of rights to the smaller federating units. They should be given complete control over their natural resources.
He praised the establishment of communication hotline between Pakistan and Afghanistan army. He, however, expressed concern over the deteriorating relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and clarified that the enemies of Pakistan wish to isolate the country in the region. He said that good working relation between the two neighbours was not only in their greater interests but it was essential for the peace and tranquility of the entire region.
QWP chief also voiced concern over the unannounced and excessive load shedding that brought the socio-economic life of people to a standstill. He regretted that the despite the tall claims the federal government had miserably failed to overcome the power crises.
He added that snatching the electricity from people in the name of de-electrification on the pretext of power theft was not a right decision. He deplored that government had failed to improve the situation and now it had been resorting to unrealistic explanations having no popular approval.
The chairman stated the Qaumi Watan Party will raise voice for the rights of Pakhtoon nation on every platform and also expressed his firm conviction on winning the upcoming general elections in the province. Being the only true representatives of Pakhtoon nation, QWP will sweep the polls in the next general elections, he stated. Party Provincial Chairman and Senior Minister KP Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
