Annual Health Event 2017 opens at Sindh university

The Vice-Chancellor of University of Sindh (UoS) Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat inaugurated the "3rd Annual Health Event 2017." The event was organized by Institute of Biochemistry, UoS in collaboration with Research & Development Foundation (RDF), Anti Snake Venom, Anti Rabies Serology Laboratory, Sakrand, Neglected Tropical Disease Society, Hyderabad, Department of Community Health Sciences & PUMHS for Women, Nawabshah.
The stalls that were put up for public display and awareness included blood sugar, hemoglobin, blood test, kidney checkup, cardiology, blood pressure, anti snake venom project, health awareness, nutritional values and others. Dr Fateh Burfat visited more than 50 stalls, put up by BS, M. Phil and PhD students, showed keen interest in each one of them and greatly eulogizing the efforts of the organizers.
Seeking on-the-spot interface with the student groups leading various stalls, he maintained that human health possessed profound and paramount significance among all issues confronting man and by addressing this important aspect, the Institute of Biochemistry has done a laudable work that merited a great deal of appreciation. "I have often noted to my discontent that the rural masses inhabiting the countryside of the province usually remain health unconscious, which leads to their ill health and premature mortality. Hence, I would urge upon you (the students) to reach out to those rural parts of Sindh, sensitize people on their health issues and contribute to improving quality of their life. The university will do all it can to provide all required help and assistance to the institute", he assured.
He also insisted on the need for MUET, LUMHS, SU, Jamshoro and SAU, Tandojam to streamline a joint framework to tackle and resolve all important issues facing their employees and communities to maximize impact and to conserve resource wastage; stressing the imperative of taking start with the health sector.
Dr Burfat observed that he had witnessed firsthand the horde of problems experienced by the university community, as the university released regularly vast amounts of funds under medical reimbursement program. "We can save this money and enhance the pace and volume of relief by organizing awareness programs like the one initiated by the Institute of Biochemistry, UoS", he remarked.
