The Karachi Port handled 161,047 tonnes of cargo comprising 111,529 tonnes of import cargo and 49,518 tonnes of export cargo including 6,261 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 111,529 tonnes comprised of 19,256 tonnes of containerised cargo; 786 tonnes of general cargo; 38,053 tonnes of bulk cargo: 34,800 tonnes of coal; 3,253 tonnes of soyabean meal and 53,434 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,518 tonnes comprised of 44,737 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,136 tonnes of general cargo and 3,645 tonnes of urea. As many as 6,261 containers comprising of 1,442 containers import and 4,819 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The break-up of imported containers shows 391 of 20's and 494 of 40's loaded while 63 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,242 of 20's and 382 of 40's loaded containers while 663 of 20's and 1,075 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Ever Divine, Taroko, Polo and Mongoose Hunter carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There was one vessels viz. Kota Kasturi carrying containers currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Kota Kasturi, KMTC Mumbai, MT Quetta and Senorita carrying containers, oil tanker and rice respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Wan Hai-501 and Evolution carrying containers and urea respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. There were three vessels viz. Duzgit Integrity, Han Ren and Hong Prosperity carrying chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while three vessels viz. MSC Capri, APL Japan and Jasmine Express carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
There is one ship namely CV Mataquito carrying containers expected to sail on Friday evening. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Mataquito, CV Maersk Stockholm, CV UASC Al-Khor, MV Saratov, MV Aeo Los, MV Bottiglieri Ambition and MT Adele Marine Rizzo currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely MV Trade UN, MV Wel Hero, MT Globe Tanya, MT Formosa Falcon, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Serengeti, MT Navig-8 Executive, MT CH Zephyr and MT Harmony-1 carrying canola seeds, coal, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV Maersk Izmir and MT Globe Tanya carrying containers and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Friday. There were eight ships namely CV MSC Mykonos, CV Al-Bahia, CV Maersk Atlantic, CV Maersk Stepnic, CV Torrente, CV Izamir, MV Calimero and MT Serengeti carrying containers, coal and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV Hermes and MV Jin Yu Shan carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while three ships namely CV MSC Tomoko, CV X-Press Kailash and MV Qing Hua Shan carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Sunday.
