European gasoline cracks edged higher on Tuesday, supported by overseas demand and as refinery maintenance in Europe kept supplies limited. There has been relatively firm demand to ship European gasoline on transatlantic journeys as inventories in the United States drop and Latin American buuying interest remains strong US stocks have been steadily declining, with industry monitor Genscape reporting on Tuesday that stocks in the New York harbour area fell by 400,000 barrels.
Gasoline stocks in Europe's Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp hub were little changed in the week to April 13 at around 1.11 million tonnes, data from Dutch consultancy PJK International showed. Saudi Arabia's oil product exports rose by 361,000 bpd month-on-month to 1.515 million bpd in February, according to data from the Joint Organizations Data Initiative (JODI) on Tuesday.
PBF Energy plans to restart its 65,000 bpd fluid catalytic cracker early next week at its Delaware City, Delaware, refinery, after roughly six weeks of planned work, according to a source familiar with the plant's operations. Kenya's oil importers are seeking over 540,000 tonnes of oil products for delivery in June and July, a tender document showed on Tuesday. They are seeking 232,106 tonnes of 50ppm sulphur gasoil, 145,299 tonnes of jet fuel and 165,465 tonnes of gasoline.
Barges of benchmark Eurobob gasoline traded at $564-$569 a tonne during the afternoon session. Gunvor sold three barges to Varo and one to Shell. Elsewhere during the day, roughly 18,000 tonnes traded at $563-$565 a tonne fob Amsterdam-Rotterdam, down from trades at $570 a tonne on Thursday. Gunvor sold to Shell, BP, Varo and Trafigura.
Two barges of premium unleaded gasoline traded at $566-$567 a tonne fob ARA. Gunvor sold to BP and Total. Gunvor sold a fob Mediterranean cargo to BP at $571 a tonne form May 1-5 loading. The May swap traded at $569 a tonne at the close, down from $576 a tonne the previous session. Brent crude futures were 66 cents lower at $54.70 a barrel by 1549 GMT. Gasoline barge refining margins edged slightly to $12.98 a barrel, from $12.79 a barrel on Thursday.
