Naheed Mehdi Hayat, chairperson of Commonwealth Friends of Labour Party (CWFOLP) urged the British government to act as an arbitrator on the Kashmir issue between as it is an unfinished agenda of the 3rd June Partition Plan-1947 given by the British Raj. "The terms of reference of the arbitration should be free, fair and transparent plebiscite under the UN auspices on three options," she said speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, here on Friday.
She said three options be given to Kashmiris if they want: (i) accession to India or (ii) accession to Pakistan or (iii) independence after withdrawal of Indian and Pakistani troops and under the supervision of International Peace Forces.Naheed Hayat said that the policies of the UK's Labour Party are flexible and positive for those Pakistanis as well as Kashmiris who are living in UK.
"Pakistanis and Kashmiris should support Labour Party as they have great influence in British society and politics," she suggested. She further said that the British Parliament would be influenced by induction of the MPs of Pakistani and Kashmiri origins in the next elections. She urged the British nationals of Pakistani and Kashmiri origins to take active part in the British politics and policies. Hayat said that Pakistan had a history of more than two centuries relations with Britain. She said that Pakistan's economy, education, trade and export would be boosted by these ties. She said that people of the two countries are mentally attached to each other.
