KP Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that keeping in view the rapid developments taking place in the fields of medicine, the promotion of productive interaction amongst experts at the international level, motivating the respective professionals to improve their standard of practices and ensuring good patient care as well as capacity and capability building of the concerned institutions has become need of the hour.
He was addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Urology Conference 2017 held under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter of Pakistan Urology Association in Peshawar on Friday. The moot was attended by the delegates from various countries besides from all over Pakistan.
Highlighting the importance of the conference, the governor said, "Although, in our province, the urological services are available only in main cities presently, yet the things will not remain the same for a long time". Besides the Peshawar-based Institute of Kidney Diseases, he added, the urology care and training centres at the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar and the Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad have been contributing their role in this regard.
Beyond doubt, he said medicine is a noble profession and to keep it truly in line with its cherished spirit, the humane touch of doctors is essential. This aspect, he added, evolves training and professional development. "Making someone humane, caring and sympathetic; personality grooming is also must and to achieving this desired goal we have pinned great hopes with the Khyber Medical University", the governor said. He also wished the moot to come out with workable suggestions to overcoming the deficiencies at every level for a long time to come. Meanwhile, Dr Nasir Orakzai, Head of Peshawar-based Institute of Kidney Diseases welcomed the governor and highlighted the importance of the conference.
