The Karachi Port handled 107,424 tonnes of cargo comprising 67,874 tonnes of import cargo and 39,550 tonnes of export cargo including 8,702 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 67,874 tonnes comprised of 34,331 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,153 tonnes of general cargo; 22,590 tonnes of bulk cargo: 20,740 tonnes of coal; 550 tonnes of soyabean meal; 1,300 tonnes of rock phosphate and 7,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,550 tonnes comprised of 19,624 tonnes of containerised cargo; 426 tonnes of general cargo and 19,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,702 containers comprising of 2,626 containers import and 6,076 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 738 of 20's and 874 of 40's loaded while 06 of 20's and 67 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 533 of 20's and 303 of 40's loaded containers while 801 of 20's and 2,068 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Hyundai Shanghai, New Ark, CMA CGM Eiffel, Wan Hai-613, MT Shalamar, Achilleas-S, Liberty Passion, Eit Paloma and LE Chang carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Kota Karim, YM Orchid, Wan Hai-613, CSC Brave Bunga Laurel, Sea Moon and Da Fu carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Northern Dependant, ALS Apollo and Golden Denise carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
There were five vessels viz. Ever Diamond, Wide India, Wan Hai-506, Maribel and White Fin carrying containers, mogas and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 149,864 tonnes comprising 137,096 tonnes of import cargo and 12,768 tonnes of export cargo including 3,119 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 137,096 tonnes includes 35,003 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,182 tonnes of LPG; 11,753 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 30,388 tonnes of soyabean seeds/oil; 1,727 tonnes of project cargo and 46,493 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 12,768 tonnes includes 12,768 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,119 containers comprising of 2,447 containers import and 672 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were five ships namely CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Silver Zoe, MV Navig-3 Stellar, MT Tiamat Gas and MT Desert Rose carrying containers, soyabean oil, phosphoric acid, LPG and furnace oil respectively expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Maersk Kinloss, CV MSC Algeciras, CV UASC Bubyan, MV Da De, MV Orient Rise, MV Aris-II, MV Navig-3 Stellar, MV Silver Zoe, MT Tiamat Gas and MT Desert Rose currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds/oil, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Dione, MV Gas Ethereal, MV African Finfoot, MV Chang Shan Hai, MV Asia Emerald, MV Iris Oldendorff, MT Umm Bab, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Maistros, MT Formosa, MT Silver Philipa and MT Bneinder carrying containers, soyabean, chemical, coal, LNG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, MV Gas Ethereal and MT Umm Bab carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were eight ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV NYK Furano, CV MSC Algeciras, CV Maersk Salina, MV Fan Zhou-9, MV Freedom Line, MT Lion-M and MT Quetta carrying containers, project cargo, coal and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
There is one ship namely CV CMA CGM Indus carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while four ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV Tempanos, MV Zhong Guo Shui Dian and MV Clipper Tcnacious carrying containers, coal and slag respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
