President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Zubair Tufail has said that talks with the government are underway for the payment of export refunds so that the liquidity crunch being faced by textile exporters could be resolved. He said this talking to media along with other senior members of FPCCI during his visit to the 10th international exhibition of textile machinery and garment technology IGATEX Pakistan 2017-Exhibition and Conference, at the Expo Centre on its second day on Thursday.
He expressed hope that the issue of refunds would be resolved shortly. He said the payment of refunds would ease financial burden of exporters as the cash flow position would improve and it would also boost morale of exporters. Appreciating efforts of organisers of the exhibition, FPCCI president noted that Pakistani exporters needed modern technologies and machineries to enhance their share in international market. He was happy to see the products and their quality being displayed at the exhibition. He stressed on introduction of latest machinery to increase textile products from Pakistan. "Bangladesh is a cotton-deficient country but it has around $35 billion exports," he said, adding that other countries which are preferring adoption of modern ways of production are increasing their market share.
Sharing the feedback of the exhibition, Saleem Khan Tanoli, CEO of FAKT Exhibitions told the media that hundreds of visitors mostly engineers and technicians were visiting there to exchange views and get information about machinery being displayed. "Pakistan needs modern machinery and technology and this event provides avenues to traders and industrialists," he said, adding that the exhibition is playing vital role in the introduction of the most modern machinery to the local industrialists which increase productivity. He noted that improved law and order situation of Karachi has encouraged foreign exhibitors, which reflects the number of companies participating in the show.
More than 550 companies of 35 countries are participating with their latest machinery in the exhibition, organised by FAKT Exhibitions. Among others 73 are Italian, 70 German, 50 Chinese, 25 Turkish and 80 are Pakistani companies who are showcasing their products.
Chairman, Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) Nasir Fateh Kukda said that they received overwhelming response from business community who highly appreciated PCDMA's efforts towards organising chemicals and dyes expo in hall No 3. He said that the chemical and dyes expo is being held along with the 10th international exhibition of and conference on garment, textile, leather machinery and accessories (IGATEX Pakistan 2017). He said leading Pakistani companies and multinationals and foreign exhibitors are display their products at more than 100 stalls. He said that the foreign delegates have expressed their views that Pakistan is a land of opportunities having great trade and investment potentials in various sectors.
"This expo will significantly contribute in promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations of the visiting delegates," he said, highlighting the immense potential of investment and unlimited natural resources available in Pakistan. He also emphasised on frequent exchange of trade delegations and exhibitions.
