Convening a conference of legal fraternity in Islamabad on May 5, Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Saturday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the wake of the Panama Papers case verdict. Vice-Chairman Pakistan Bar Council Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon and Chairman Executive Committee Chaudhry Hafeezur Rehman said that transparent and impartial finding of the joint investigation team (JIT), constituted by the apex court in Panama papers verdict would not be possible if the Premier remains in office.
The PBC top brass was of the view that in the present circumstances after the apex court's verdict in the Panama Papers case Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has no justification to remain in office so it would be better for him to step down. Bhoon and Chaudhry said the PBC has decided to convene a lawyers' representative conference from across the country on May 5 in Islamabad for deliberations and consultation in order to evolve a joint strategy about the premier's resignation.
