Blistering heat struck Karachi and other parts of Sindh province on Sunday, crippling social and business life. The maximum temperature of 42 degrees centigrade was recorded in Nawabshah and Thatta; 41 in Hyderabad, Dadu, Tando Allahyar, and Mirpurkhas; 40 in Karachi, Khairpur and Sukkur; and 39 in Larkana.
The people were forced to stay indoors and take cold drinks to beat the heat. It was so severe heat that water in tanks turned hot. Children and elders were most suffers. The health experts have advised citizens to stay indoors and reach heat-stroke centres in case of any heat complication.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, very hot and dry weather with isolated dust-storm and gusty winds may occur in the province within 24 hours. Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country. However, light rain-thunderstorm is expected at a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Very hot weather conditions are likely to prevail in lower Balochistan.
