A five-member delegation of National Management Course (NMC) met with Director General Information at his office, here on Tuesday. Director General Sindh Information Department, Sami Siddiqui briefed the visiting delegation about the functioning of the Sindh Information Department in detail.
Sami said that the Information Department has the responsibility of the projection and publicity of the provincial government through media tools ie print, electronic media within available resources in a very hard manner as the present age of modern information and technology, with latest and modern equipment's.
The DG briefed the delegation about transparency in distribution of Advertisements and in this regards a committee is formed by the Secretary Information to monitor the process. The Publications Section of the Sindh Information Department brought two magazines of Urdu and Sindhi languages.
The Sindh Information Department issued handouts to both print and electronic media of Sindh Cabinet Ministers, Sindh Assembly, High Court, Ombudsman, Disaster Management and also published other notifications of different department and publicity stuff sent from various departments. The arrangement of emergency press conferences, handout of government MPAs, Ministers are issued by the Press Information Directorate in three languages (Sindhi, English and Urdu). A strong team of Information Department plays pivotal role in bringing the relationship between the media and the government. The Director General briefed the visiting delegation about the functioning of the Films Section. Sami Siddiqui said that keeping the frequent requirements of growing electronic media the Information Department plays a vital role and performance of Information Department between electronic and print media is like a bridge.
