The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) will discuss as many as 18 development projects at an estimated cost of Rs 200 billion for approval on Wednesday (today). The CDWP would also recommend the projects whose cost is more then three billion rupees to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.
According to the CDWP meeting agenda available with Business Recorder, the CDWP would discuss three projects of energy sector at a total estimated cost of Rs 20.21 billion including 30MW Hydro Power Project Gwadar at cost of Rs 7.99 billion, provision of electricity for various areas of District Chaghai at a cost of Rs 22.441 million and Sindh Renewable Energy Development Project (SREDP) at a cost of $122 million (approximately Rs 12.2 billion).
CDWP would discuss a total of seven water resources projects at a cost of Rs 71.25 billion including Research Studies on Drainage, Land Reclamation, Water Management and use of Drainage Water at a cost of Rs 501.89 million, Construction of Umarzai Dam District Pishin valued at Rs 200 million, construction of Storage Dam Yousaf Kach Rud Mullazai District Pishin at a cost of Rs 200 million, construction of Guide Walls for Protection of Khandaq Right to Munawar forward situated along right Bank of River Munwar Tawi at a cost of Rs 108.62 million, Construction of Mara Tangi Dam District Loralai valued at Rs 450 million and Raising of Baran Dam Project at a cost of Rs 64.633 billion.
The CDWP would also discuss one project relating to environment is Construction of RBOD from Sehwan to Sea at Gharo (RBOD-II) (2nd Revised).
The CDWP would discuss three projects of Transport and Communication sector at an estimated cost of Rs 50 billion including Karachi Neighbourhood Improvement Project (KNIP) of Sindh government at a cost of Rs 10.5 billion, Revival of Karachi Circular Rail Ways (KCR) of Sindh government at a cost of Rs 27.6 billion which is whole foreign exchange component and Peshawar Sustainable Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Project of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government at a cost of Rs 56.8 billion including Rs 48.182 foreign exchange component.
The CDWP would discuss two projects of Higher Education Commission at a projected cost of Rs 3.15 billion including Establishment of National Facility for Laboratory Animal Research and care (NFLACR) at PCMD at an estimated cost of Rs 346.95 million and Enhancement of the Research Facilities at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at a cost of Rs 2.81 billion.
The CDWP would discuss Strengthening /Up-gradation of Agriculture and Livestock Research System of Arid Zone Research Institute, Umerkot-Sindh at a total cost of Rs 643.53 million of Food and Agriculture Sector, Prime Minister's Youth Skill Development Programme (Phase-IV) 2017-18 at an estimated cost of Rs 6.2 billion of Manpower sector, Construction of Sports City at Narowal (2nd Revised) at a cost of 2.994 billion of Culture Sport and Tourism and one project of Mainstream Acceleration and Policy Support (MAPS) for Balochistan Sustainable Development Goals Project for governance of Balochistan government at a cost of Rs 500 million.
