Chairperson Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has said that TEVTA will start China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) focused more specialized training courses in order to provide trained and skilled manpower to the project.
He was addressing the high profile meeting at TEVTA Secretariat here on Tuesday which was attended by executive officials. Chairperson told the meeting that during his recent visit to China, he had visited several Chinese universities which will be assisting TEVTA in CPEC focused technical courses.
TEVTA will also set up stalls in road show organised by Punjab Government in China to attract more Chinese investment in TianJin city in current month; he told the meeting adding that TEVTA will also share its trade expertise at the road show. He further stated that TEVTA will also sign several agreements with universities in China in the financial and port handling courses which will fulfill the need of CPEC projects and other market.
Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh also ordered TEVTA officials for necessary arrangement to increase the female enrollment in TEVTA colleges for upcoming admissions in short courses as well degree course. "Women currently are outshining in every field of life and they are playing vital role in industry development. Training them will provide more skilled female labour to industry," he added.
He said that TEVTA is finalizing its plan for driving courses along with City Traffic Police Lahore. The three weeks course for general public and two month course for LTV and HTV license will be held in three colleges including Government Technical College Raiwind Road, GTC Mughal Pura and GTC Township, he said adding that more people will be beneficial with TEVTA services and courses. He also ordered for cutting fee for evening classes which was being charged more than morning classes.
