All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders have welcomed the statement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which he expressed his willingness to play a role in resolving the Kashmir dispute. Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his statement hoped that Tayyip Erdogan, who is on a visit to India, would make efforts to end the political uncertainty prevalent in the region since decades.
"Turkey being an important Islamic country and having cordial relations with both India and Pakistan will hopefully make efforts to end the political uncertainty prevalent in the region for decades," Mirwaiz said. The Hurriyet leader said, "The Turkish President is well aware that how Kashmir dispute is the main source of tension between the two nations."
He said, "Being an active member of Kashmir Contact Group at OIC, Turkey has always advocated the solution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir and Ankara can play a vital role in the resolution of this issue to end the tension in this region." Senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement while hailing the statements of Turkish President and Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Kashmir expressed hope that the international community would break its silence on Kashmir and fulfil its responsibility in this regard.
"We welcome the suggestion of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Kashmir is a longstanding dispute which is a bone of contention between two nuclear neigbouring nations. India has been unleashing the state-sponsored terrorism in the disputed state," he said. Shabbir Shah termed the concern shown by Erdogan on bloodshed in Kashmir a positive development. Meanwhile, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General, 'World Kashmir Awareness Forum in a statement said, "The people of Kashmir were heartened by reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would try to persuade both India and Pakistan to engage in a multilateral dialogue for a just and durable settlement of the Kashmir conflict." This is, he added, the most sensible, feasible and practical proposal put forth by the President of Turkey.
