Peshawar clinched the trophy of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Region Cycling Championship organised here at Northern By-Pass Road by securing 50 points. Adviser to the Chief Minister on Law and Parliamentary Affairs Arif Yousaf was the chief guest on this occasion. Director General Directorate of Sports KP Junaid Khan, Secretary General Pakistan Cycling Federation Syed Azhar Ali Shah, President KP Cycling Association Nisar Ahmad, former international cyclist Murad Khan, players, officials and a great number of spectators were also present.
In the team trials Peshawar recorded 50 points by taking first position, followed by Swat with 41 points and Mardan 30 points. In the individual time trials Saleem Khan of Peshawar took first position, followed by Tanzeel of Peshawar and Ahmad Ali of Swat. In the Scratch Race Tanzeel of Peshawar took first, followed by Saleem and Imran.
At the end, the chief guest MPA Arif Yousaf gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up team. The winner was awarded Rs 50,000 cash prize while the runners-up got Rs 30,000 and the third position was given Rs 10,000. The individual winner of Individual Time Trials and Scratch Race were awarded Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively. Speaking on this occasion, MPA Arif Yousaf lauded the efforts of the organizing committee for holding the event. He said the govt is very keen to support healthy sports activities. He urged upon the players to continue their hard work so that they could reach at national and international level.
