A well organised and well-rehearsed Annual Sports Day prize distribution ceremony was held at the Town Boys Branch of The City School, Peshawar. Former Minister for Sports Syed Aqil Shah was the chief guest on the occasion. Senior sports journalist Ijaz Ahmed Khan, Head mistress of Town Boys Branch Mrs Saima Naeem and Regional Head of The City Schools Ms. Samina Shinwari were also present on the occasion.
Former Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Aqil Shah has said that sports are a must part of extra-curricular activities and schools should encourage sports activities on regular basis. Syed Aqil Shah informed the students that he himself had represented Pakistan Junior Basketball team during his student days. He urged the students to keep working hard to excel in their fields.
Earlier, a well prepared PT Show by the students of the Town Boys Branch was presented which was highly appreciated by the audience. Syed Aqil Shah also announced to provide sports equipment for Town Prep Boys Branch of The City School. Head Mistress of the school Mrs Saima Naeem and Regional Head of the City School Ms Shinwari were also present. Syed Aqil Shah hailed the efforts put in by the school sports in charge in organizing such an event.
Sports events including cricket, football, badminton, table tennis and athletics were part of the Sports Week. Later Syed Aqil Shah distributed medals and trophies among the winners of different events. Irshad Banori of class 7 T was declared as the best Sportsman of The Year award for his all-round performance in different events. Similarly, Arbaz Khan of Class 8-T was declared Player of the Football event with 13 goals. Abdur Rehman of Class 7-T was adjudged as the Player of the Cricket Tournament with and overall performance of 77 runs and 6 wickets.
Abdul Kalam of class 5-C was declared as the Best Fielder of the Cricket Tournament while Ihtisham Afridi of class 5-C was named as best goal keeper of the football event. Shabbir of Class 6-T won the badminton tournament while Hamza Haider Khalid of class 8-T won the table tennis tournament. Class 8-T won the football trophy, Class 7-T won the Cricket event.
