Mercury scaled up to maximum 48 degrees Celsius in Sibi, Moenjodaro on Monday, as the Met Office alerted the citizens to a very hot weather in Upper Sindh and South/Central Punjab in the next 24 hours. It said that a light rain with dust-thunderstorm is expected at few places in Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Larkana, Rawalpindi and Sargodha Divisions, besides parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Rohri and Larkana were the other places sizzled with maximum 47 degrees Celsius, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Padidan, Turbat and Khanpur 46, each. "A shallow westerly wave is affecting western parts of the country," the Met said.
