Army withdraws tweet

It is a matter of great satisfaction that the military has withdrawn its tweet through which it rejected a notification issued by Prime Minister's Office in response to an inquiry committee's recommendations on the Dawn Leaks. It had unnecessarily suggested that the military has perhaps publicly questioned the prime minister's decision to sack an adviser over an explosive newspaper article alleging a rift between the country's civilian government and the military.
Two weeks ago, the prime minister had fired a senior adviser, Tariq Fatemi, over a front-page report last year in Dawn alleging a civilian-military rift. Major General Asif Ghafoor, the DG ISPR, subsequently questioned the firing in a tweet, saying it was not in line with the findings of an inquiry committee that was set up to determine who leaked information to journalist Cyril Almeida about a top-level security meeting. It's good to note that the interior ministry has issued a final notification while seemingly addressing the reservations of army. The army therefore has withdrawn its controversial tweet. The issue therefore now stands settled.
