District Quality Control Board (DQCB) has decided to refer 23 cases against the medical stores/clinics of quacks to the Drug Court for trial involved in different violations of Drug Control Act. This decision was made by the Board during its meeting held here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani.
The Drug Inspector's inspection reports of total 27 cases against the medical stores/clinics were reviewed in the meeting and decided to prosecute against 23 medical stores which were running without drug sale license and involved in sale of unregistered medicines. The Board decided to get the FIR lodged against the two medical stores involved in gross violations while the cases against two medical stores have been adjourned for verification of documents and other evidence.
Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani, while reviewing the inspection reports of the Drug Inspectors, directed for immediate seal of medical stores running without drug sale license and involved in sale of unregistered medicines. He said that regular supervision of the sealed medical stores be ensured and prompt legal actions should be taken against the owners of the medical stores in case of breaking the seal by themselves.
He stressed upon the Drug Inspectors to compile solid cases against the persons involved in sale and manufacturing of spurious drugs and said that the cases against them before the Drug Court be pursued effectively so that the enemies of human health could be taken to task. The Deputy Commissioner asked the police officers for preparing challans against the drug mafia swiftly for presenting them before the Drug Court for Trial. He urged upon the Drug Inspectors to perform their duties with dedication and commitment to uproot the menace of spurious drugs. Among others the meeting was also attended by Captain Dr Muhammad Siddique, Dr Asfandyar, Secretary Board Arif Shahzad, Deputy Public Prosecutor Sajila Nazir, Drug Inspectors Mohsin Asghar, Zeeshan Ahmad, Khalid Mustafa and Amir Ali Babar.
