Dacoits deprived citizens of their valuables worth millions of rupees in two different robbery bids in the provincial metropolis on Friday. In the first incident, two unidentified robbers, riding a motorbike, looted a money changer, Muhammad Amir, near Shahdara, when he was about to leave for his native village.
Police sources said the victim was deprived of his 'cash' worth over Rs 10 million. After getting information about the incident, the police conducted search operation and managed to arrest the suspected criminals, they added. In another incident, six alleged robbers stormed into a medical store and looted cash around Rs 400,000 and other valuables by holding all staffers hostage at a gunpoint. Police and eyewitness said the alleged robbers entered a medical store namely Roshan Medical Store situated at the Chandrai Road. Muhammad Iftekhar, owner of the store, criticised the apathy of the local police, expressing that police have badly failed to curb crimes in the city despite tall claims by their high-ups.
