Our mission is to consistently provide every customer with the best possible restaurant experience each and every time they visit us to fulfil this mission, we are committed to being a socially responsible company, as both an active member of the community and of Pakistani society. It is our duty to listen to the opinions of stakeholders including our customers and those of local communities and to take appropriate actions in good faith in response. Therefore, we engage in corporate social responsibility activities mainly in five categories.
As a company providing "food", the foundation of trust lies in the assurance of product quality and safety. To achieve this, we work with all our suppliers in close partnerships, setting strict standards of the sourcing of raw materials and quality control in every step across our value chain from farms to processing plants, distribution channels, and to our restaurants. Trust cannot be built without the support of our employees including crews who support our restaurants. At McDonald's, we put people at the center of our business and drive people development initiatives for our employees under the philosophy that the development of people develops the company, and in turn delivers great restaurant experiences for our customers.
Food (Products and quality control)As a company offering food, quality control is our top priority to ensure product safety to enable guests enjoy meals with a sense of safety anytime and anywhere.
People (Employees)McDonald's business is a people business. We support people's growth with our policy of "Individual growth will create corporate growth."
Sourcing In the procurement of raw materials for our products, relationship with suppliers and procurement process are critical factors for assuring food safety.
Planet (Environment)Based on the idea that consideration for the environment is a part of the social responsibility for a company engaged in business, we tackle our environmental responsibilities with a viewpoint of continuous optimization.
Community (Social contribution)McDonald's founder Ray Krock used to say "We have an obligation to give back to the community that gives so much to us." It is the starting point of our corporate social responsibility activities. Our main focus is supporting and guiding to make a big difference in the lives of challenged individuals. As a policy, we hire challenged individuals who are diligently trained by other staff members. There are several challenged individuals already working as staff members at our various outlets across Pakistan.
Our support for the challenged individuals has uplifted many lives as one of the basic principles that guide our behaviour, actions, and decisions every day is that we are committed to our people. We demonstrate that commitment in more ways than one:
Treating our people with fairness, respect and dignity • Ensuring our people have the right to work in a place that is free from harassment, intimidation or abuse, sexual or otherwise, or acts or threats of physical violence • Providing equal treatment and equal employment opportunity • Providing a safe, productive and a healthy working environment We not only hire but also we create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children with special needs, for children with special needs deserve special care.
Hence, since McDonald's Pakistan inception we have been regularly supporting Dar-al-Sukoon, one of the largest charitable organisations for welfare and rehabilitation of children with special needs in Karachi. We are not only committed to helping the organization with its annual fund-raising but also supporting it throughout the year.
Chaman School is part of Social Welfare Complex, Lahore which provides education to children with special needs during the day and also serves as a boarding facility.
For the past 16 years, we have been continuously supporting Chaman School by regularly raising funds and by sponsoring its annual sports and related events throughout the year.
Our support doesn't end here. We also encourage challenged individuals to take part in physical activities. We lent a hand to the Annual Wheelchair Race for challenged children, providing free food and gifts for every contestant. We actively support events like the Handi-Marathon. Challenged individuals from all over the country participated in the 1,500 meter wheelchair race organised by Payam Foundation in Islamabad, one of the biggest events of its kind.
In addition, whenever we launch a new restaurant we make sure that our VIP Guests are none other than children with special needs from different charitable organisations across the country. VIP Meals are also served to the orphanage of the area where the launch takes place. It's a tradition that we love to follow!
Like us, our customers are equally passionate about making a difference. They show their support to the charities we support by dropping their spare change in individual collection boxes for Dar-al-Sukoon and Chaman School placed in our restaurants.
Feeling responsible toward the society, McDonald's has always done everything in its power to help the challenged individuals lead a better life and be self-dependent. It brings us great delight at becoming the reason behind their smiles and it is our pledge that we will continue to do so in the future.
