Community As a global operator of container and marine terminals, our business is focused on long-term investments and we therefore become a significant part of the communities in which we operate. We endeavour to become an enabler in those communities by involving ourselves in projects and initiatives that will raise awareness, tackle social issues and make a difference.
DP World Karachi has worked extensively for the cause of Education, be it partnering with TCF as supporters or furnishing government schools. In the year 2014 , a kindergarten school of 2 classes was built by the name of Ibtida (beginning) 50 students were enrolled in the first year. After completing an academic year in 2015, an additional class was added to the present set up, making the student strength now 75.
Environment As a global organization, our focus is on delivering responsible environmental management. Environmental protection and management is considered part and parcel of all our activities, with impact reduction initiatives being prioritized to direct resources to where the greatest environmental return can be realized.
A number of Tree Plantation Drives have been carried out through this whole year not only within our premises but at Public Parks , Schools & at SOS Village At Malir along with HPH Terminals team.
DP World Karachi also carries out various clean-up activities. Recent ones being Beach Clean-up at Sea View along with HPH Terminal Team, Park Clean up With APS School at Hillpark and the latest one being Beach clean-up at Turtle Beach in collaboration with WWF Pakistan.
Employee Engagement / Volunteering We also aim to have a long-term impact which means developing alliances with our community partners rather than simple philanthropic donations. We achieve this through volunteering, where our people share their skills and expertise and get involved in hands-on activity such as reading to children or renovating a school. Employee volunteering has become an important element of our corporate social investment, with numerous benefits for all involved. DP World requires all its employees to volunteer at least once a year. While all through volunteers enthusiastically involve themselves in various activities, Globally a Volunteer Week is celebrated throughout our DP World terminal.
Our Employees share not just their time and care but their skills as well, to preserve the environment, Paint School Walls , share a meal with Senior Citizens, Spread joys of all festive seasons at Orphanages and Senior Homes.
