Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers' Association (PCMA) has planned to acquire Netherlands expertise for improvement of chemical industry in Pakistan at par with international standards. The Country Head of Netherlands' Senior Experts Organisation "PUM" Frans Friedeman on Tuesday held a meeting with the association's office bearers and assured to arrange a fact finding mission in collaboration with Engineering Development Board (EDB), Government of Pakistan to materialise the senior volunteers' expert service from Netherlands for PCMA-member chemical units. Prominent industrialists from chemical industry including the PCMA vice chairman Abrar Ahmed were present in the meeting.
Frans Friedeman delivered a detailed presentation on the working and the services offered by PUM. He said, "We connect entrepreneurs in developing countries and emerging markets with senior experts from the Netherlands each of whom has gained at least 30 years of professional experience in business environment." These senior experts voluntarily devote their knowledge and experience for the execution of short-term consultancy/advisory projects" he added.
He said that PUM (Netherlands' Senior Experts) is a non-profit organisation which was established in Netherlands in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Central Employers Federations of Netherlands.
PUM provides a cost free program which is contributing in the growth of businesses in developing countries by providing direct and indirect support. The Engineering Development Board and the PUM have agreed to arrange a fact finding mission across PCMA affiliated industry to visit the interested member companies. The mission will come up with a report afterwards and the senior consultants will be placed in the interested companies based on that facts finding report. Earlier, the PCMA's secretary general Iqbal Kidwai while briefing the participants said the association has been engaged in evolving a comprehensive strategy for development of Pakistan's chemical industry, which is almost ready for implementation.
