Approximately 49 student kits including bags, pairs of shoes, lunch boxes, and others were distributed among 62 deserving girl students of three government girls high schools of Tando Mohammad Khan district on Friday. It was aimed to reduce dropout rates in schools of interior of Sindh where students especially girls left schools because of abject poverty as their parents and guardians are unable to provide them even a pair of socks. It was also aimed to improve learning level of the students by providing free-of-cost materials to them.
Sindh Community Foundation (SCF) in collaboration with SGAFP-USAID distributed students' kits among the 62 poor girls. A single kit consists of two uniforms (for winter and summer), a pair of shoes, a school bag, a lunch box, a stationary box, a stapler, pens and pencils, scissor, color markers. The deserving girls from class 6th to 10th are students of Government Girls High School Mula Katair, Government Girls High School Sheikh Bhirkio Tando Muhammad Khan district. The sports kit consisted of sports materials, while desk were also given to newly-enrolled students in the school. Along with both schools sports kit was also distributed in Government Girls High School Rajo Nizamani.
Speaking to participants of a program held at the school, SCF executive director Javed Soz said that this support would encourage students and help them and their parents/guardians. He called for enhancing enrolment in government schools especially in interior of Sindh where students were deprived of facilities. He said that these students belonged to poor and needy families where parents were usually unable to provide health, education and others facilities properly to their children.
Tando Muhammad Khan secondary education department taluka education officer AD Sahto, Ishtiaq Ali Pasha, Office Superintendent, headmistress of the school Allah Bachaee, First Assistant Rukhsana of Government girls high school Mula Katiari, Headmistress Sardaran Bibi and First assistant of Government Girls High school Sheikh Bhirkio and other female teachers were also present on the occasion. The deserving students, their parents and guardians were glad to receive such kits.
